Tapas has acquired a strong academic base in naturalistic style through his art education at Government College of Art and Craft Kolkata. Though talented in academics the beauty and creativity of his paintings rest on how he excels the restriction of naturalism and makes a kind of meditative inwardness to extract the inner essence of the consciousness and personal qualities of the character he depicts. These characters are generally women of urban and rural areas. Perfection of naturalism to a deeper expressionistic value is the crux of his works.

The exhibition showcases the art works of professional artists as well as art college students, who are selected after a tough regional contest. A large number of paintings of the participating artists have been sold in such exhibitions.

The contest is an initiative by the Camlin Art Foundation to give young Indian talent a platform to display their art. The winners of such regional art competitions are eligible for the selection process of Euro Art Tour by Camlin.

Thanks to the overwhelming response of the entries from the participants this year, Camlin Art Foundation has extended its deadline for the contest in the Southern region to September 15, 2010, for the submission of pictures of their paintings along with the entry form for the contest. The artists have to send their entry forms along with a colour photograph (5x7 inch) of the painting, they wish to include in the competition. The winning professional artists and art college students of all four regional exhibition rounds qualify for national selection process, which includes the coveted Camlin sponsored visit to the Art galleries of Europe.
